Leopards can't change their spots

As both a Mac user and industry "interested party" I have been watching the ongoing problems with Leopard (v10.5) with a great deal of interest, and I am struck by three feelings:

  1. Relief. Once again, the old IT admin mantra of "always wait for the updates" on any new OS release (no matter what the OS is) has saved me what looks like a lot of grief.
  2. Frustration. As an ex-developer I can really feel for the developers of all the products that are suddenly found to be incompatible with Leopard (some of which I use). And all because the developers are only getting to experience some of the major OS features now - at the same time as their customers. Come on Apple, you are supposed to be issuing better pre-releases than this!
  3. Resolution. When I do get Leopard (and I will... after the updates come out) I will be doing a clean install. This is another one of those IT mantra's "It takes a lot longer, but a clean install of a new OS saves you time in the long run".

Some things never change - and Leopard's can't change their spots.
