About Honors Hand

All stories must start somewhere, this one starts with a man bringing together a collection of seemingly unrelated individuals. The place is New York City, but it is just a place - any place would have done. The individuals are all dead, or rather they would have been had the man not saved them.

The man, this stranger, understandably feels that he is owed a rather large debt of service and he knows just the way for them to repay it...

Concept for Honor's Hand

A Question

The concept for Honor's Hand is as simple as it is complex: How would two supremely powerful beings fight? Where the beings in question are so powerful they could squash a planet flat as easily as you or I might pick up a book, or kick a small pebble. How could these beings fight without obliterating they very thing they are fighting over? And so are story ideas born.

An Answer

The answer is they avoid direct, all out, open conflict, at all costs. They influence events; they make things happen in specific ways, they add their own resources to an endeavour to "assist" an outcome. They use proxies.

The Prize

But what could it be that these beings are fighting for? What prize could possibly be of such value that they expend the time and effort to even fight? As yet no one knows, but the characters will find out. First hand.

Story Outline

Honor's Hand is a story of several different groups all struggling for their own ends, how they all wind up tripping up over each other, and what they do when everything starts turning to custard.

The story starts near the end of the time of Mage 2nd edition, and will move into the time of Mage Revised. The characters will wind up hip deep in the ascension war (even though they may have no particular interest in it) and will be directly involved the events leading up to the destruction of Bombay and coming of the Avatar Winds.

Who knows, perhaps they might even prevent those terrible events from happening?

During the course of the story the characters will interact with (or have to deal with) The Technocracy, The Traditions, Vampires, The Umbra, and some things (there's no other way to describe them). Not forgetting the multitude of regular folk who inhabit the Word of Darkness and are just trying to live their lives.

Sound like fun?

Character Backgrounds

Due to the concept of the game, all characters in Honors Hand must have some kind of Asian connection. I don't really care what it is but it must be present. For example:

Lastly, all characters should have a sense of honor and service. This is important because they will be asked to effectively give up whatever kind of a life they thought they had. If they were not the sorts of people that could at least learn to cope with that then they wouldn't have be asked.
