Zooming into a quark from 10 million light years out

link to post

The last link in my "I should really be doing something else" set of Space links, is a series of zoom-ins starting with a view of the Milky Way from about 10 million light years out from Earth and winding up with a close-up of a few quarks that happen to be loitering in a carbon atom in a tree leaf.

In keeping with the tonights Space theme, and following on from 'Planets and Stars to Scale' I stumbled over a peice on Andromeda vs. The Milky Way that the BBC included a documentary. It is rather dramatic, and of course all the action takes place about three billion years from now, but even so it is clear that everyone is going to a have a bad day.
