Several silk shirts worn under clothing. First used by the Mongols, silk is strong, light, and flexible. Velocity projectiles (e.g. arrows) will still break the skin but the silk shirts will not be pierced, even though they will be pushed into the wound - making them a clean battle dressing of a sort.
